About Your Photo Experience

When you think of booking your photography what comes to mind? Is it a long day of awkward smiles, lack of direction, and stiff posing? Or do you want a relaxed afternoon spending time laughing with friends?

I believe weddings and portraits should be fun. So much stress goes into planning the event, but the wedding day is when you can finally enjoy all your hard work and your photos should reflect that. I work quickly, giving you time to take photos in several locations and still get some privacy for the two of you before the reception. I try to keep things relaxed enough that you'll barely notice you're posing.

Most importantly, I want your photos to be timeless. It's important that you have classic looking-at-the-camera portraits that your children will one day cherish, but also casual joyful candids that show how completely and totally in love you are. I pose you through all of them so you never have to worry about what to do next. All you need to do is hug, kiss, and laugh!

Cyndy & Austin wedding testimonial

"Tanya always knows how to catch 'the shot'. I've had four sessions with her now, and every single time I look at the pictures I cannot believe some of the moments that she catches. With Tanya, the photo-taking process is so natural and it doesn't have to feel forced. Tanya will be our family photographer for as long as she is in the industry, and we look forward to more sessions with her."

Do we need to be photogenic to look good in the photos?

90% of people I work with claim they are not photogenic yet 100% of them do amazing when given my direction. I pose and direct you in ways that are most flattering to you personally and when flowing between poses so quickly, even the most photo-hating people comment that it was surprisingly fun! I take care of all the posing for you, but I'd love to add in any fun ideas you might have.

Are you able to travel?

I love to travel! I have photographed people in Lethbridge, Waterton Lakes Park, Calgary, Edmonton, Lake Louise, Canmore, the Crowsnest Pass, Fernie, Pincher Creek, Fort Macleod, Cardston, Medicine Hat, and even Las Vegas (plus more!). I'm also really good at figuring out what I need to do to make your photos awesome as soon as I arrive at a location, so there is no need for me to visit a venue until the day of the event.

There are a few destinations I won't travel to due to all the paperwork and travel costs involved. If you are planning a destination wedding, feel free to contact me to discuss if it is an option.

Do we need to meet with you before booking?

It's important that we speak so that I can offer you the best value for what you are looking for and plan your experience to be perfect for you, but this does not need to be in person. If you are out of town or too busy for a consult, I'd love to have a quick chat with you on the phone to get details about your wedding or portrait session. I can then send you a personalized quote, as well as resources specific to your needs!

Cathy & Don wedding testimonial

"I would say that out of all the wedding vendors I had to deal with, you were the best with every part of the process. You were organized and provided all the information I needed. And of course, the pictures turned out awesome! I've had so many compliments on them."

What if the weather is bad?

We'll roll with it! I have worked in most weather and will bring an umbrella, work extra fast so you can minimize time spent out of coats, and will find as much shelter from wind as possible.

If your wedding or session is taking place in Lethbridge, I am happy to suggest a number of indoor venues that can be booked (usually for a fee). Some of these locations are only available to professional photographers, but don't worry -- I have the liability insurance they require for booking the space.

Since portrait sessions are not always date specific, we can either move them indoors to one of the local venues or reschedule for a nicer day.
