Planning Your Waterton Wedding Photography
Waterton is one of my absolute favorite places to do wedding photos. The national park gives couples an opportunity to have a destination wedding without traveling very far from home. With so many great locations available in the park, it can be hard to decide where you should have your ceremony, reception, and especially where to go for your Waterton wedding photography. My hope with this page is to make the process a little easier by featuring some of my favorite weddings from Waterton. Every couple was so unique in their choices and I loved working with them to find the best locations possible to capture the feel of their weddings.
Classic Waterton Weddings
With gorgeous old churches and sprawling hotel properties, Waterton is a great place to plan for a large, classic wedding with your whole family.

Erin & Renzo's Waterton Destination Wedding
Erin & Renzo planned their destination Waterton wedding all the way from California to offer their friends and family a chance to take an amazing vacation! Guests traveled from as far away as South America to attend, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and the Bayshore Inn were able to accommodate the guests at this beautiful, classic wedding.

Adrienne & Shawn's Romantic Bayshore Inn Wedding
Adrienne and Shawn centered their Bayshore Inn wedding around their family, having their children as their wedding party. They spent the day cruising around in Adrienne's father's vintage car and we worked their portraits around the random rainstorms (a Waterton staple).

Deandra & Phil's Elegant Bayshore Inn Wedding
Deandra and Phil had a very classically inspired wedding with both their ceremony and reception taking place at the Bayshore Inn. We were able to visit iconic locations around the national park for their portraits and made sure their cute dog Meeka was included.

Garrett & Heather's Waterton Community Center Wedding
Garrett and Heather made use of the mountain vistas within the Waterton town site by having their outdoor ceremony in the Waterton Community Center yard and reception to follow in the building's beautifully renovated gymnasium. Their small wedding party made it easy to navigate the park on this crowded summer day.

Shreyo & Lorianne's Waterton Indian Wedding
Shreyo and Lorianne celebrated the joining of their families by having both a traditional Indian ceremony in the Bayshore Inn yard followed by a Western ceremony, which, due to rain, ended up taking place in the saloon! They did a beautiful job combining the cultural elements with their geeky passions.
Intimate and Casual Waterton Weddings
Waterton has great little nooks in the trees, quiet beaches that look onto the mountains, and cliffs with sprawling views, perfect for bringing along the most important people in your life (or just eloping!).

Isabelle & Andrew's Waterton Catholic Wedding Ceremony
Isabelle and Andrew stayed safe from the downpour during their small ceremony at Waterton's Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The rest of the day they spent laughing under umbrellas and exploring the park!

Michael & Chantelle's Casual Waterton Wedding
By having a small ceremony next to Linnett Lake, Michael and Chantelle were able to include their dog in their wedding day. They are both the outdoors-type so we kept a casual, hiking feel to their photos and had lots of time to explore the park.

Ryan & Becky's Prince of Wales Wedding Elopement
Becky and Ryan travelled to Waterton from the United States for their very intimate wedding ceremony overlooking the lakes from the Prince of Wales Hotel. With their wedding taking place early in the day, it was so quiet and peaceful in the park that it almost felt like off-season!

Jennifer & Scott's Prince of Wales Wedding Ceremony
A little rain didn't ruin Jennifer and Scott's out of country elopement. They moved their ceremony to inside the historic Prince of Wales Hotel and were able to keep the gorgeous view of the mountains. Their wedding was perfectly timed to take place during wildflower season.

Amy & Andrew's Fun Waterton Wedding
This wedding was the ultimate in intimacy - the ceremony was held in a remote field that required some hiking, and only parents, grandparents, and their dog came along! Amy and Andrew were all about keeping things fun and casual and incorporating their favorite hobbies, including canoeing with their dog.
Seasonal Waterton Weddings
The off-season in Waterton is a great time to hold your wedding. While most of the town closes for the winter, a few hotels and businesses and stay open. This is a huge advantage when you're planning your Waterton wedding photography because you don't have to account for many tourists getting in the way of your photos!
Waterton Autumn Weddings
Autumn in Waterton gives you the best of both the tourist season and the off-season. Many of the local amenities and sights remain open into the fall, still allowing for venue and photo location variety. The national park turns a gorgeous golden colour while the mountain peaks become capped with snow. Most of the tourists are gone by autumn so you'll have nearly free run of the town for your photos!

Ella & Mike's Waterton Cottage End of Season Wedding
Ella and Mike chose to make their wedding special by having their ceremony at a friend's cottage in the national park. Their wedding took place just as the park was closing for the season, giving them lots of space to themselves and Ella's dog Coco during photos before their quiet dinner at the Waterton Lakes Lodge.

Cassie and Chelsea's Intimate Waterton Wedding Ceremony
Cassie and Chelsea travelled to Waterton to have their wedding honour family visits to the park with grandparents. After their outdoor ceremony at the Bayshore Inn, we explored the park for photos on this early autumn day.

Emily & Cody's Outdoor Waterton Autumn Wedding
Emily and Cody had an outdoor ceremony at the Waterton Lakes Lodge just after most of the park closed for the season. The weather was unusually warm for that time of year, which meant no snow and exceptionally vibrant fall colours!

Kevin & Ashley's Autumn Waterton Lakes Wedding
Kevin and Ashley got married at the Waterton Lakes Lodge in the early autumn while portions of the park were still open for the season, getting the best of both worlds! We had access to the gorgeous autumn colors and glimpses of snowy peaks at Cameron Lake, without any of the crowds.
Waterton Winter Weddings
Holding your wedding in the winter in Waterton feels like you have all of Waterton reserved just for your wedding! While many of the sights that are a short drive away are closed for the season, the town itself has no shortage of beautiful locations to use for your photos. My personal favorite is the frozen waterfall at Cameron Falls.

Davis and Candace's Waterton United Church Winter Wedding
Candace and David travelled down to Waterton with only a few guests for their intimate wedding at the Waterton United Church. The recent blizzard that week calmed down just in time for them to take portraits around the snowy park.

Jeremiah & Hannah's Waterton Lakes Lodge Winter Wedding
Jeremiah and Hannah had a full winter wonderland for their wedding just before the seasons changed back to spring. With few other people in the park, they had full access to all of the dreamy, snowy landscape within the town. They had their religious ceremony and reception dinner at the Waterton Lakes Lodge.

Terri & Craig's Waterton Winter Elopement
A little wind doesn't get in the way of beautiful photos! Terri and Craig chose to elope in Waterton during the winter. Without any guests and the park being nearly empty, they had a truly private and intimate wedding! They took a few moments to warm up by having their ceremony in the conference room at the Waterton Lakes Lodge in front of the scenic windows.

Chance & Tawnia's Waterton Winter Wedding
You need to be a little more daring to have your wedding in the winter! Chance and Tawnia had their ceremony indoors at the Waterton Lakes Resort, which stays open throughout the winter, and even had a backup plan to hold it outside on the stairway if the weather had cleared up. It was pretty cold for their photos as a blizzard hit the town, but it was so worth it for the dreamy snow swept backgrounds.
